HOUSTON, Texas — (DMN/Chronicle) – Houston radio host Michael Berryhas offered to pay $2,000 for damages stemming from an alleged hit-and-run accident outside a gay night club last month. Berry’s attorney sent the man whose car was damaged a check drawn from Berry’s personal account and a letter explaining that the conservative talk-show host is cooperating with a Houston police investigation. “I wanted to make you aware that from the very beginning of HPD’s investigation, Mr. Berry made it known to HPD that if they were of the opinion that he caused damage to your car, Mr. Berry wanted to make it right with you,” reads a letter from Dick DeGuerin.
“We are prepared to pay whatever your actual damages are and we will do so immediately, whether Mr. Berry is found at fault or not.” Berry, who served as a City Council member in Houston, was accused last week of allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run on Jan. 31. Berry has not been charged in the incident.
